Ariel is a fictitious character who is the main character in Walt Disney Pictures’ 28th animated movie, “The Little Mermaid” (1989). She also makes appearances in the movie’s prequel TV series (1992—1994), the direct-to-video sequel “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea” (2000), and the direct-to-video prequel “The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning” (2008). Jodi Benson provides the voice for Ariel in all official animated content and related merchandise. She is the fourth princess in the Disney Princess lineup, the first princess who is not human, and the only princess who becomes a mother to her own child.
